David Escudé, Sports Councillor of Barcelona City Council, and José Luís Blanco, Sports Director, have presented the new features of this year’s Mercè race.
Some of the most outstanding are the sustainability measures. Besides those already in place in previous years, such as the agreement with Aguas de Barcelona food provisioning—replacing plastic cups with compostable cups—, some new measures have been added, like the elimination of plastics in T-shirt transportation, the collection of white chips and the reutilisation of transport pallets.
TV host Xavier Bonastre, a TV3 journalist, has taken the veteran runner Isidre Ferrer and the winner of the last two editions and record holder of this race Mourad El Bannouri to the stage.
