The Business and Sport Award for Partnership went to Play and Train and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Regional Railways) for the Centre d’Esport Adaptat La Molina, a sports centre offering adapted sports for users with specific needs resulting from a physical disability. The project, which has grown steadily since its foundation, clearly demonstrates the need to satisfy the growing demand for sport from groups that have not traditionally practised it.
The Business and Sport Award for Internationalisation was won by MACSHA, a company specialising in developing timekeeping technology (hardware and software) in a range of sports disciplines (running, cycling, swimming, etc.), with products both for organisers and for sportspersons. This year, 2016, the company’s exports will account for 48% of its turnover. It has already expanded into 18 countries with distribution agreements in the United Kingdom, Australia, Argentina and Chile.
The Business and Sport Award for Innovation was presented to SM Genomics, a laboratory applying genetics to Sports Medicine to improve the performance of professional and amateur athletes. The company has developed two tests: the Genetic Test in Injuries and the Genetic Test in Sports Nutrition. These produce objective and reliable information, which, together with other extrinsic variables, makes it possible to improve the personalisation of training and nutrition for athletes, obtaining benefits in their performance and in their general health.
