The international FOTOSPORT show in Reus represent a flagship event for photographic works sponsored by the International Federation of Photographic Art.

Exhibition: L’Esport es il·lusió

From 2 September to 31 October, the exhibition room at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport (Olympics and Sports Museum) will host Gabriela Mihailescu’s photography exhibit ‘L’Esport es il·lusió’. The inaugural ceremony will feature the presence of Maribel Martínez de Murguía, Barcelona ’92 Olympic champion with the field hockey team, who will offer a conference at the end of the exhibition.

‘Sports as a Tool for Development and Peace’ Awareness Campaign

The Associació per a les Nacions Unides a Espanya (ANUE) presented the ‘Sports as a Tool for Development and Peace’ awareness campaign at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport (Olympics and Sports Museum).

Barcelona Sports Institute Working Session

The Joan Antoni Samaranch Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport (Olympics and Sports Museum) hosted the working session the Barcelona Sports Institute (IBE) conducted with the municipal sports centres.

City of Sports: Barcelona 1979-2009

The exposition “The City of Sports: Barcelona 1979-2009” covers the past thirty years of development and changes. It reviews the transformation of the city of Barcelona, which has become a pioneer in the field of sports. Facilities, companies, activities and multiple, top-level sports events, since the 1992 Olympic Games to the 2003 World Swimming Championships, without overlooking the Tour de France this summer, are but a few examples that have placed the city at the forefront of international sports.

The Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport (Olympics and Sports Museum) is changing its name to: Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch (Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympics and Sports Museum)

With the presence of Maria Teresa Samaranch, authorities: Mr. Jordi Hereu, Mayor of Barcelona; Mr. Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee; Mr. Pere Alcober, Chairman of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation the Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport has been renamed Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch.

WATERCOLOUR Prizes

With participants of various nationalities, the first prize (€2,500) was awarded to Madrid native Francisco Solano and his work Máxima concentración; second prize (€1,800) was for Superación, by Julio Roig from Jaén; and third prize (€1,200) went to Baladona-based Francesc Bueno and his work Cap de marató

FORUM & SOCIETY THE FOCUS Josep Lluís Vilaseca

The Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport (Olympics and Sports Museum) Auditorium hosted the presentation by Josep Lluís Vilaseca, who after Franco’s dictatorship was the first Sports Director in Catalonia.
