Olympic Forum: Final Day and Conclusions

The second and final day of the Olympic Forum ended with a warm welcome by the public. Romà Cuyàs, patron of the Fundació, was responsible for closing the event.

The inaugural ceremony was presided by Xavier Amador, Director of Institutional Relations of the Qualitat de vida, Igualtat i Esport department; David Moner, Chairman of Unió de Federacions Catalanes (UFEC); Gerard Figueras, Director of the Consell Català d’Esport and Josep Salom, representative of the Provincial Government of Barcelona.

 

China’s Tongii University exhibits “Imaging Barcelona – The Transformation of an Olympic City”

The exhibit, which was commissioned by the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, is comprised of a series of photographs demonstrating the Olympic legacy left by the 1992 Olympic Games.

 

The Eurocup 2013-2014 Drawing at the Museu Olímpic

The regular Eurocup season will begin on 15 October. Forty-eight clubs from 24 countries have taken part in the drawing of one of the most important European basketball events. We will have to wait until next May to know who will be the next EUROCUP champion.

 

The European Parlamentarians with Africa (AWEPA) association of consuls and representatives in African countries has met to establish the cooperation initiatives and objectives for development in Africa

Senator Josep Maldonado, the President of the AWEPA, together with Juli Pernas, Director of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, were given the task of welcoming them to the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sport Museum.

 

Olympic medal-winners Ona Carbonell and Joel González will be the ambassadors of the 4th Oxfam Intermón Trailwalker event

Athletes Joel Gonzalez and Ona Carbonell, alongside Francesc Mateu, the Oxfam Intermón Director in Catalonia, and Juli Pernas, Director of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, were at the Olympic and Sport Museum to present this 4th edition of Trailwalker, the charitable project promoted by Intermón Oxfam.

Performers of the standing of Joan Manuel Serrat, Noa, Barbara Hendriks, Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Miguel Poveda will be putting on a unique show with a symphonic backdrop courtesy of the El Vallès Symphony Orchestra conducted by Joan Albert Amargós, under the artistic direction of Manuel Huerga, with the essence of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games playing a key role in commemorating some very special moments.

The event was presided over by Oriol Mercè Deputy Director of the Catalan Sports Council, Xavier Amador, Director of Institutional Relations at the Quality of Life, Equality and Sport Department, and Oriol Rusca, the Dean of the Barcelona Lawyers’ Association.

 

The FPO (Barcelona Olympic Foundation) and the JASF (Joan Antoni Samaranch Foundation) have signed a partnership agreement for the development of joint cultural projects.

The two bodies will be joining forces and resources to produce exhibitions and shows, to set up bursaries, develop educational programmes and increase their archive and museum collections. All with the aim of fostering and promoting the values of sport and the Olympic movement.

The firm commitment made by the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica to illustrate the link between art and sport is more tangible that ever. It is demonstrated, once again, by the broadening of this fourth call for proposals, in both quantitative and qualitative terms.
