The Special Olympics Barcelona – Calella 2014
Following the arrival of the Olympic flame in Barcelona, where it was welcomed by athletes, sponsors and dignitaries, the Special Olympics begin with more than 1,660 athletes from 17 delegations taking part in 12 sporting disciplines.
Vilaseca presented his book,
Josep Lluís Vilaseca, Trustee of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, has been one of the heavyweights in the promotion of sport in Catalonia. As Secretary-General for Sport, he was a member of the team behind the Barcelona ’92 bid. Vilaseca was likewise President of the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body, and is a board member of Barcelona FC and the Spanish Olympic Committee. A whole life dedicated to sport and its smooth administration.

50th anniversary of the ’64 Olympics
The Barcelona Olympic Foundation decided to pay homage on the 50th anniversary to the Olympic Games held in Tokyo and Innsbruck in 1964.
Tribute Domingo Catalán
Maite Fandos, President of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, together with Josep Conesa, President of the Sport and Nature Athletic Club, were the hosts for the tribute to Domingo Catalán, twice world 100 km champion and one of the great pioneers of long-distance athletics in Catalonia.
9th Olympic Museum Network General Assembly
The International Meeting of World Olympic Museums is organized annually by the Olympic Museum of Lausanne, in an effort to generate synergies among the various Olympic Museums throughout the world that are members of the Olympic Museum Network, under the sponsorship of the IOC.
Seal of Environmental Assurance
The Directorate-General for Environmental Quality of the Catalan Regional Government has granted its Seal of Environmental Quality Assurance in the category of cultural facilities: libraries and museums, to the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sport Museum.
The delegation from Tokyo, venue of the 2020 Summer Olympic Gains, visits the facilities at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sport Museum.
The delegation, comprising Toshiyuki Okeya, Project Manager at the International Relations Department; Mr. Koichi Wada, a Professor at Ferris University; Mr. Shinobu Akimoto, a Professor at Kobe University and Ms. Noriko Yoshida, Coordinator of the Sports Area in Japan.
The HISTORY CLASSROOM is a platform made up of university and cultural establishments connected with sport, with the fundamental aim of promoting the history of sport.
Each member of the platform organises an activity, such as a roundtable, an exhibition, a photography competition… dedicated to the history of the Olympic movement and sport in Barcelona and Catalonia. It is open to all students of Physical Activity and Sports Science, along with all those who have an interest in the history of sport here, in accordance with the founding principles of each establishment.
