Maite Fandos, Deputy Mayor for Quality of Life, Equality and Sport on Barcelona City Council, together with Carmelo Paniagua and Ramón Basiana, the Presidents of the Spanish and Catalan Skating Federations, had the task of performing the official presentation of Barcelona’s bid to Sabatino Aruca, the President of the International Federation of Roller Sports (FIRS).

Márquez’s handprint is now at the Museum. The Catalan motorbike racer visited the Museum in April to launch his book, and also left his handprint on the Wall of Champions.

Areadaptada celebrates 10 years

The 10th anniversary of Areadaptada was marked with an introduction to diving for people with disability and a birthday party at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sport Museum.

 

China’s Beijing Municipal Archive visits the facilities at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sport Museum and Study Centre.

The delegation comprised Mr. Lyu Heshun, Director General of the Beijing Municipal Archive and members of his team: Ms. Lixin Chen, Ms. Yuee Liu, Mr Kewei Zhang and Mr. Kai Wang.

The FEWC (Federation of Hiking Clubs of Catalonia), with the collaboration of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, marked at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sport Museum the 40th anniversary of the first Catalan expedition to climb Annapurna.

Mountaineers Jordi Pons, Josep Manuel Anglada and Emili Civis scaled on 29 April 1974 the virgin summit of Annapurna East (8,026 m – Nepal) to become the first Catalan climbers, and indeed the first from anywhere in Spain, together with Xavi Pérez, Antoni Villena, Marià Anglada, Manuel Martín, Enric Benavent and Eduard Blanchard, to climb a peak of more than eight thousand metres.
