BOUNCE: HOW THE BALL TAUGHT THE WORLD TO PLAY’ WINNER OF THE 7TH EDITION OF THE BCN SPORTS FILM FESTIVAL

Marta Carranza, President of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica and Commissioner for Sports of the City Council of Barcelona was the person who gave the Àmfora Ciutat de Barcelona to the best film in the 7th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival to ‘Bounce: How the ball taught the world to play’, a documentary by Jerome Thélia and produced by Anne Carkeet (Merge Group). ‘Bounce’ explores the origins of our favourite sports. The documentary spans languages and continents to show how the ball has gained importance in our lives and fuelled our passion for competition. Consul General of United States, Marcos Mandojana, has received the award.

Presentation of Temporal Exhibition 3, 2,1… Rio

Vice consol of Brazil, Edgar Cabral Cardoso, inaugurated the exposition “3, 2, 1…RIO”. This exhibition is on show until 18th Septembre at Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch.

The biologist Daniel Justribó ceded his publication “Feminitat, Esport, Cultura: Pioneres de l’atletisme català (1921-1938)” to the Centre d’Estudis Olímpic and visited the Museum Olímpic facilities.

 

Lulama Smuts Ngonyama, South African Ambassador in Madrid, has approached the Olympic Museum to visit the Mandela-AWEPA space.

Lulama Smuts, on an official visit with AWEPA Spain, met with Josep Maldonado, President of AWEPA Spain, visited the Olympic Museum to see the space dedicated to Nelson Mandela, a childhood friend of Lulama.

 

Icària, the boat that carried the Olympic torch over the Mediterranean.

The 1992 Barcelona Olympic flame reached Empúries over the Mediterranean Sea. Young Mariana Aguilera was entrusted to carry the flame to the Catalan coast on board the Icària.

Sant Boi add to the Festival

The mayoress of Sant Boi de Llobregat, Lluïsa Moret and the president of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica, Marta Carranza have signed a collaboration agreement for the BCN Sports Film Festival 2016.

Juli Pernas, director of the Olympic Museum and Joan Manel Surroca, sports journalist and contributor to the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sport Study Centre, were visited by an icon of basketball journalism, Miguel Angel Forniés, who for many years was responsible for the press for Joventut de Badalona and first special envoy of the Spanish press to the NBA.

 

‘Del segle XIX al segle XXI l’Esport a Barcelona’ (Sport in Barcelona from the 19th to the 21st centuries) now in bookstores

The evolution of the city of Barcelona from the nineteenth century to the new millennium can be found in the work ‘Del segle XIX al segle XXI l’Esport a Barcelona’, a project developed by the CEO Samaranch and co-edited by publishing firm Àmbit and the Barcelona Olympic Foundation. This publication was created with the aim of condensing all the richness of the city’s sporting tradition.

 

The Barcelona Magic Line comes to the Olympic Museum

The Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch (Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sport Museum) was one of the facilities that 10,000 participants in the third edition of the Barcelona Magic Line, a charity walk for the most vulnerable people, could visit for free on Sunday 28 February.
