Abel Kirua, Olympic silver medallist and two-time world champion, and Florence Kiplagat, the holder of the women’s half marathon world record, were the guest athletes at the presentation of the Barcelona Half Marathon.

Accompanying the runners were Joan Porcar, CEO of RPM Racing, Iolanda la Torre, Manager of the IBE, and Samantha Lliteras, Business Development Executive of Edreams.

The half marathon, which will cover the streets of Barcelona this Sunday, will feature more than 15,000 athletes, with a notable increase in the number of foreign competitors and the percentage of women taking part. In 2010 women made up just 4% of runners, while 25% of those running the 2015 Barcelona Marathon will be women.
