In addition to his passion for sport, Joan Antoni Samaranch had a great fondness for the world of collecting.
This area highlights one of his most peculiar collections: chestnuts.
It was well-known that Samaranch had a habit of carrying a chestnut in his pocket. The contact with the nut helped Samaranch to relax during the numerous trips and speeches that he made.
As such, Samaranch received thousands of gifts of chestnuts from all of the countries that he travelled to.
A good example is this trophy, in which the five Olympic rings feature accompanied by five chestnuts.
