40 years have passed. The Origins of Barcelona’s Sports Policy

Between 1979 and 1986 Barcelona City Council spearheaded the vital task of democratising sport, with series of measures that are still very much in evidence all over the city today.

Based on the testimonies of some of the chief driving forces behind these policies, including Enric Truñó, Paco Segura, Juli Pernas, Núria Puig, Lolo Ibern, Marta Carranza, Jordi Vallverdú, Josep Lluís Vilaseca, Romà Cuyàs and Narcís Serra, this exhibition showcases the sports scene in the city during the early years of democracy, and the City Council’s main areas of action in relation to sport.

This exhibition will be on show at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum from 13 December until 8 March 2019.
